Secure Mail Gateway

Overview

CompuMail Gateway encrypts and signs all the e-mail traffic and is the solution for secure e-mail in an organization. CompuMail Gateway is a software application, which is centrally integrated in the SMTP chain. The encryption can be done by four different methods: S/MIME, OpenPGP, PDF or CompuWebmail.

CompuWebmailThe webmail functionality allows to send e-mails via the web from an external device and location. With PDFMail it is possible to encrypt and sign e-mails to third parties which don’t have certificates for the encryption of e-mails. The addressed user can, by entering a password, open and read the PDF document with the e-mail content and optional attachment(s). Encrypted answering is possible by pushing the reply button. CompuMail Gateway is very easy to integrate in existing networks, to manage by a central web management, and the end-user doesn’t need to do anything to send encrypted e-mails.

CompuPDFMailCentral Management

The implementation and administration of the CompuMail Gateway can easily be done by the web management. The administrator can add rules and groups for the users. These rules are binding and can’t be denied. CompuMail Gateway encrypts and signs e-mails of users to predefined e-mail addresses of user groups automatically. The responsibility is transferred from the end-user to the administrator.

Four ways of email encryption

S/MIME Encryption
A very secure way of e-mail encryption is the S/MIME protocol. X.509 certificates are used by S/MIME and can be created by the administrator or PKI trustcenter. The user doesn’t need to have any technical knowledge to use S/MIME.

OpenPGP
The open standard for key pairs based on e-mail identity is a fast and secure method for exchanging information. By importing these key pairs into the CompuMail Gateway e-mails can automatically be encrypted and decrypted.

PDFMail
With PDFMail a user can send an e-mail to third parties who don’t have e-mail encryption. The user receives an encrypted PDF document and, after entering the password, the e-mail in the PDF document can be read and answered.

CompuWebmail
With the webmail functionality each registered user can, from an external device and location, send and pick up encrypted e-mails, without the need of own encryption software. This can be seen as a secure hosted mail service or private cloud mail.
